Wind Chains
April 24, 2001

Very different from SKIN, WIND CHAINS is a big production. Still melody based, but theatrical, edgy sound-scapes that crosses genres, yet are cohesive in concept and have a much more dramatic style. I’ve explored and learned a lot making the new album. I was able to take what I heard in my head and do it. The band and I laid down main tracks in Chic Corea’s studio, Mad Hatter, in L.A. Got to use Jimi Hendrix’s sound board! And Chic’s Steinway has an autographed roster of many of the greatest players - signed inside the harp. These are meaningful details to a musician like myself. Besides the fact that the Steinway is an awesome machine, the energy of being on the same keyboard as the likes of these stellar talents is … well, inspiring.

WIND CHAINS has a 16 page booklet with lyrics and photos and some suble (very) surprises. During the process we got lots of shots of me in varying stages of wet to dry in, under and on lakes and other bodies of water. All pertinent to the wind and water theme that runs throughout. An obsession of mine – wind, water, myth, magic, power of nature and of self. Tales of WIND CHAIN’S creation will be up on the site, too. Some amazing shots that won’t be in the album will be in the gallery; photo ops like trying to sink a piano, and me as a mermaid. Got lots of video, too. Saving it for the out-takes. Now that’s funny.

The gigs I do in Boston are great. Boston is a totally cool music town. Thanks to everyone who comes out for the shows. You rock!
